Our trip to Carthage Jail.

This picture is of the carthage jail window where Joseph Smith fell. I took this picture during the commemoration of the martadrum, June 27, 2010.

Original jail where Joseph Smith and others were kept.

Window where Joseph was shot and fell out.

We seem to have a lot of storms here in Nauvoo. Lots of lightening, thunder and rain. And yes the wind blows. Look at the damaged trees in our neighboars yard, Lucy Mac Smith.

This is a view of our kitchen from the front door.

This is our office in our bedroom.

The bed part of our bedroom.

Our bathroom with a shower and lots of counter space.

Our washroom where we have our message bed, washing machine and ironing board. Some apartments have bigger living room space and just a closet for washing machine. Woops, I am behind on my ironing.
Off to the temple with clothes and lunch in hand. This is our early day and we leave at 6:25 so we will be dressed and in the chapel by 6:50 preparing for the day.

This is where we served today. We spend one day a month at the Arrival Center talking to people as they arrive in Nauvoo and need to change to go to the temple. Or wedding parties wait here while the sealing is taking place. Sometime the bride will dress here and walk across the street to the temple. Fun place to be.

Celebrating the 24th of July growing up.

Parley Pratt Giles reinacted the pioneer trail with other members of the church. He drove his car on the pioneer trail with a wooden ox on each side and wagon cover on the top.

Because of his red beard, they called him Porter Rockwell.

Do you recognize anyone in this picture?

Dad and Mom dressed up for the Sons of the Utah Pioneer celebration.

This is how I remember celebrating the 24th of July. We got dressed up so that we could walk 10 blocks in a parade.

Some of my favorite cousins who came to say goodby at our open house at Louise's house April 2010.

Thinking about my great Nauvoo heritage and what my parents gave to us. Wish Mom and Dad were here to share these moments with us. I do feel their spirit and understand more what sacrificies our parents and grandparents have made to create who we are today. We love you Mom and Dad.

(No, Mom and Dad didn't cross the plains. They didn't have the right clothes or oxen to pull this wagon.) Come to Nauvoo and you can ride in one of these with real oxen pulling the wagon.

Carthage Jail commemoration with Kjars

Waiting for "Vocal Point" from BYU to peform. You have to go early to get a seat.

We love going around town in style. They come by our house and tell people this is where the missionries (El and Sis Peterson) live and then we wave.

Joseph Smiths' RedBrick Store. This is where the RS was organized. It is owned by the RLDS. They open it when they have tours busses stop by. We went on the Joseph Smith area tour with Janet and Jim (President and Sister ) Williams when they came to visit in May. We bought two amber colored root beer bottles. They have a red brick label on the front. I put my Gerber flowers in them and share with neighbors.
I am such a slacker. We have a friend here in Nauvoo who takes beautiful pictures and tells the story. She is my mentor. I would like you to see her blog at
